I really like this DVD. I got it because it was for beginners but I will tell you that it shapes you FAST! I also really like that you can choose a 10 minute workout for different areas. WOULD GET THIS AGAIN!

10 minute solution March 6, 2011

The pace of the program is good for beginners. Past 60 and in reasonably good shape I found exercises manageable, getting up and down from the floor is required. It would have been nice to have a 10 minutes segment using hand weights in this collection. The 10 minute segments can be combined to create longer session.

Very good Pilates for Beginners release February 28, 2011

I'm a Pilates and yoga instructor, but sometimes I like to follow along with someone else's instruction- turn off the "instructor" part of my brain and just focus on the movements. However, I've found that a lot of popular releases move too quickly for me to feel connected. As I've progressed in my practice, I've defined advanced not by how quickly we move or how many acrobatic moves we can squeeze in, but how well I can be cued to make my smaller muscles tremble. I trembled here, and you will too. I loved the modifications she showed for the Hundred and the Roll Up in the Core Basics segment, and my triceps were burning halfway through the Upper Body segment- burning as in I needed to skip a few reps. I liked the set up for the Lower Body sequence, although Ronde de Jambe might be a bit much for someone just starting out with Pilates and she showed no modifications. I really, really loved the Stretch segment, particularly the Lunge sequence to stretch the hip flexors. Ah, heaven!

Good intro and good workout! February 19, 2011

I'm really glad I bought this. It was a pretty random choice - I wanted the 10 minute option - but it turned out to be a really good intro to Pilates and a great overall toning/back/stretch workout. I'm in reasonably good shape (I like to jog 3-4 miles) but was actually shaky at times for the upper body workout and realized how badly I needed this for a more well rounded workout. I should be sore tomorrow and that's a good thing!
