2 Set of Controllers
The Nintendo Wii comes with one set of controllers, a Wii RemotePlus and Nunchuk. A second set of controllers allows you to play with your friends and family. Both Remote and Nunchuk are essential to play an assortment of Wii games.
One controller set allows one person at a time to play the game, but many Wii games let more than one person play simultaneously such as New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Wii Sports. With 2 sets you can have two people playing simultaneously.
