Guide to the Different Wii Consoles
The Wii was introduced in 2006 and since that time 4 new Wii console configurations have been released. Since the original release, no upgrades have been made to the console itself. Changes have been to the games included and the color. When considering which is the best Wii Console, it will depend on what games you are interested in.
What's the Difference?
Aside from the color and the game configurations the Wii console hardware is the same for the first 3 available configurations. There are no console compatibility issues, all 3 available configurations come with 1 Console, 1 Remote Plus(motion plus built-in), 1 Nunchuk, 1 AV Cable, 1 Console Stand, and 1 AC Power Supply. (The Mario Kart console also includes 1 Wii Wheel.)
The latest configuration which includes New Super Mario Brothers and a Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack CD is the first change to the console hardware. This black only release is no longer backwards compatible with Nintendo's previous console, GameCube. Additionally the console no longer includes a stand and will need to lay horizontally. The rest of the hardware remains unchanged as no upgrades have been made to the technology. All Wii games and accessories currently released and to be released are and will be compatible with all 4 console configurations.
All 4 Wii Console configurations have the same capabilities and technology so choosing a bundle is as simple as deciding what games you want to play.
